Situated on the fringe of Cupar on an attractive sloping site, Adamson Hospital is an existing Community Hospital serving the locality and providing a range of medical services and in-patient facilities. It is a hybrid mixture of architectural styles with various extensions, additions and alterations spanning 100 years creating poor room and departmental relationships and uncontrolled access issues. Our remit was to reconfigure and reorganise the Hospital to overcome these problems through comprehensive redevelopment and refurbishment.

Architecturally, Internally and organisationally, the various Hospital departments had developed sporadically over many years in a manner that had created poor room and departmental relationships and several uncontrolled and unclear public entrances in outdated accommodation encompassing a range of different architectural styles and eras.
Our task was to re-organise the Hospital through a combination of selective demolition, new-build extension and refurbishment to resolve all these issues and to create a prominent welcoming main entrance that would provide a cohesive architectural statement.
The scheme which emerged combines substantial refurbishment with elements of new build and providesa single attractive controlled and clear main entrance to the Hospital;improved and upgraded facilities for each department; an attractive welcoming environment for patient care and a more integrated and enhanced environment for staff.
