Ten Hill Place Hotel

We’re delighted to be underway with phase two of the refurbishment of Edinburgh’s largest independent hotel, Ten Hill Place, operated by Surgeons Quarter, the commercial arm of The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RSCEd).

Phase one of the works saw the four-star hotel expanding in 2018 with the bedroom count increasing from 77 to 129 as well as ground floor public areas being remodelled and upgraded. The £1.8 million phase two renovation will bring the remaining rooms entirely in line with the redecoration which accompanied the expansion.

As part of the phase two works, the refurbishment will transform a public area of the hotel into a ‘Big Snug’, a private space with capacity for 50 diners, and conclude work on 40 bedrooms. The remaining work will include the installation of a sizeable gym, complete with 18 pieces of Technogym equipment and weights.

We were delighted to see that during the UK wide lockdown, Ten Hill Place remained open from March to May in order to provide 2,137 free nights of accommodation and thousands of meals to frontline NHS workers during the coronavirus pandemic – at a cost of more than £100,000 to the charitable organisation. This also allowed the hotel to implement strict social distancing and enhanced hygiene measures.

We’re proud to continue our relationship with The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RSCEd) and Surgeons Quarter and we look forward to the successful conclusion of this project in the coming months.
